Can't get online coop to work (without workarounds)

Postby ActionMan » Sun Jul 17, 2016 4:45 am

Hey, I've played with the coop_beta branch, and now the main branch, and have never managed to get "internet" MP working.

Have tried with Melbourne<->Melbourne players, and Aus<->NZ players, and in a LAN situation where everyone was in the same room/network.
Have tried setting the router to forward port 7777 to the hosting PC (in the same manner that works for other non-uPNP games).
Have tried where the host has a uPNP router that works for other games.
Have tried having the host send invitations to join through steam (accepting the invite does nothing if in the game, or if not in the game, it just launches the game to the main menu).
Have tried typing in the host's IP address manually -- because no games are listed in the 'friends' screen, and our specific game does not appear on the 'internet' screen (a few other people's servers do show up in there though).

The only way that we've gotten multiplayer to work is by being on a LAN, or creating a virtual LAN with Hamachi VPN / PPTP / etc.

So for other people struggling to play with their friends, try Hamachi: https://www.vpn.net/

So does the server not show up for you at all in the server browser? or it does but you can't connect to it?

Our 'internet' servers don't appear in the server browser, ever. Our 'local' servers do appear in the server browser (when 'local' is selected from the filter) when using a VPN or real LAN.
